The GCW Zero is a handheld aimed at retrogamers, homebrew developers and open source enthousiasts. As part of a small team, I develop OpenDingux, the embedded Linux operating system that powers the Zero.
In this talk I will present a brief history of the project, from its Dingoo roots through the Kickstarter funding campaign to the current state. Then I'll describe the anatomy of the console in hardware and software: what exactly happens between pressing a button and the player sprite moving on the screen?
