Home IPS

We feel like there is still a lot to win in securing home networks. Using accessible
and affordable hardware and smart open source software we're hoping to fill this
gap.

HomeIPS is a simple inline plug and play device that makes using the internet safer.
Especially for the normal user that doesn’t know a lot about network security. With
the use of open hardware like the Raspberry Pi and existing open source Intrusion
Preventions systems (Snort), as well as additional code to provide the user with a
user interface. By using multiple network interfaces we're able to have an inline
connection, which enables us to actively identify and stop threats.

An interesting addition is the fact that every node will be centrally managed with
the use of the CFEngine platform. This will make it possible to push updates like
Snort rules, virus definitions or system updates to all devices on the fly.

During the presentation we'll show a proof of concept and we'll go deeper into the
possibilities and application of this product.
